2.Request for a stop sign at the intersection of Julian/Ferguson. Alderman Byron Price asked Public Works to present a request on behalf of a resident for stop signs to be installed at the intersection of Julian/Ferguson. There are currently stop signs on Julian but none on the North and South bound lanes of Ferguson. The police department reported that this intersection does not have a lot of accidents and does not recommend adding a stop sign. The commissioners denied the request to add a stop sign at the Julian/Ferguson intersection. 3.The school district requested that the parking area in front of Barbara C. Jordan Elementary School to be declared a no parking area. They recommended that the area be declared as a pick up and drop off zone, and adding signage too indicate such. The school district states that traffic concerns have existed for several years resulting in congestion, double parking during arrival and dismissal of students. They feel that this will be a positive intervention to provide a much safer zone for children while they are dropped off and picked up. The police department agrees with this recommendation. Public Works is in agreement with this request and believes this will provide a safer arrival and departure from the school. The commissioners unanimously approved the request to declare the area in front of Barbara C. Jordan Elementary School a no parking area. 4.Approval of Minutes for June, 2007 meeting The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p. m.
