During his presentation Mr. Sugerman stated the need to control cut-through
traffic in the neighborhood. He stated that the petitions reflected that about 40% of the
neighborhood was willing to try barriers on Mt Vernon for a 6 month trial period. There were
several residents from the Musick Neighborhood in attendance; a few were supportive of Mr.
Sugerman but the majority was against the project. Chairman Halpert gave the residents an
opportunity to state their views as well.
The Chairman asked Sgt Michael King (Police Department) for his thoughts of the barriers.
Sgt King stated that he was against any barriers in the neighborhood because it made
emergency response and pursuit difficult. It was also discussed to possibly have the police
department put their speed monitor trailer on Melrose to monitor traffic for a period of time.
The traffic commission decided to table this discussion until the next meeting when there
would be enough members of the commission to vote on this matter.

2.Request for Stop Sign on Fullerton Avenue at Kempland Place.

This item was not addressed and was tabled until the next meeting.

3.Request for Stop Sign on W.
