Request for no parkinQ siQns to be Installed in front of 7023 Forsvth driveway.

Mr. Patterson stated this item was discussed during January's meeting and it was recommended that
Reverend Benko notify the Police each time a vehicle parks and blocks his driveway and collect more
documentation to justify the severity of the problem.

Present was Rev. Benko and he explained that he is only requesting "No Parking Signs from here to
Driveway" 1 ft on each side of his driveway. He also provided a copy of a letter written by Katherine
Ketcham, resident at 7408 Ethel Ave, stating she worked at 7023 Forsyth for two years and was long
troubled by the danger of pulling out from the driveway and onto Forsyth Blvd. and that she had an
accident caused by this very problem.

Rev Benko also provided pictures of the desired signs to be installed at his driveway. He showed pictures
of existing signs installed at 7115 Forsyth Blvd. He explained this address has a 4 ft restriction on each
side of the driveway, he is only requesting 1 ft.

Rev. Benko did not contact police to report vehicles parked blocking the driveway as suggested at
January's meeting. Mr. Patterson asked Sg1. King his opinion on installing this type of signs, and Sg1.
King responded that if signs are install for that purpose the police will enforce them, but it would be
unusual. Mr. Wagner asked if it would be sufficient only painting the curb and Sg1. King explained a sign
is needed for this kind of restriction in order to be enforced.
Mrs. Gutierrez commented that it was discussed in the past that Forsyth Blvd has many more driveways
in the same situation, and if the City implements this change, the City will have more requests of the
same nature in the future.

Mr. Patterson offered 3 options to vote upon:
1- Table this item until Reverend Benko present more documentation to the commissioners with
reported violations.

Minutes - April 9, 2008 Page 1
V:\WP51 \ENGINEERING DIVISION\Public Works- Traffic Commission\minutes\2008\Minutes 4-09-8.doc
