<br />Park Commission Minutes – 32211, pg. 2 <br />Department Report <br />Mr. Winker reported on the following: <br /> <br />To balance the 2011/12 budget - 9 positions were eliminated City wide. Eliminated Park, Recreation & <br /> <br />Forestry Department positions were: Department Director, Business Manager and Assistant Recreation <br />Superintendent. <br /> <br />The department budget draft for 2011/12 has been prepared and submitted to City Council; <br /> <br />presentation to Council scheduled for mid April. <br /> <br />Flynn Park Playground renovation – met with the design team for the project last week, preparing an overall <br /> <br />proposal for the development; will have more info at our next meeting. <br /> <br />Individual Park Reports <br /> <br />John Sweeney – Adams Park: looks good. Flynn Park – downed tree limbs have been cleaned up. Lewis Park: <br />looks good. <br />Linda Peoples – Fogerty Park: inquired on clean up of pine cone, gumballs; opening date for restrooms; large <br />branch down; vehicles driving through park. Greensfelder: streets leading into park have several <br />pot holes. <br />Karen Palmer - Mooney Park – nothing new to report. Pershing (just east of Hanley) – large limb hanging over <br />the street <br />Caryn St. Clair – Millar Park and Rabe Park: both look fine. Ruth Park Woods: have not visited <br />William Field – Metcalfe and Ackert Parks: both look very nice. Ruth Park Golf Course – winter has taken its toll <br />though greens look very good; lost large tree on #8 <br />Karen Dille – Heman Park: looks great; Eastgate Park: was packed last night, well used. <br />Gwendolyn Gaines-Beckwith – Eastgate Park: well used; citizen using park are also collecting any remaining <br />trash. Majerus Park: spoke with Park Maintenance Superintendent regarding its French drain; <br />Mr. Winker indicated if no problem is visible then everything is fine. <br /> <br />Due to increased utilization of Eastgate Park, Park Commission may need to change Washington University’s idea <br />of non-usage of this park. <br /> <br />Unfinished Business - none <br />. <br />New Business <br /> <br />Term Expiration Dates: Ms. Ricci will bring this to the attention of City Council members. <br /> <br />President Sweeny again asked for the availability of a commission member to scribe the park commission minutes. <br /> <br />Question was raised regarding term limits for office of President and Vice-President; suggested each year <br />Commission revisit this issue. <br /> <br /> <br />Ms. Dille moved to adjourn.
