Great Rivers Greenway presentation by Mr. Patrick Owens
Mr. Owens made a PowerPoint presentation, a copy of which is attached to these minutes.

4) Status of the Trailnet master Plan design
Kevin Neill reported on the focus group sessions held April 4 and April 5. In total there were
seven meetings, with 32 people participating. This was a very good turnout and there were
high quality discussions. Trailnet will be reviewing the interviews for themes and consensus
issues. From that a vision statement will be developed. It should be presented at our May
meeting. Kevin also told us that there have been 168 responses to the online survey so far,
which is the most Trailnet has ever had.

6) Subcommittees and working groups
Nick Frederiksen reported on bike racks. He has been surveying the various types used and
locations in University City. He has visited approximately 15 or 20 locations. Nick will type
up what he has so far and submit it. Nick said Shannon Hayes is also working on this.
Margaret reminded us that we will need to recommend specific types and locations in our
report. Sarah asked whether we should consider supervised bike lots in the Loop or in
similar places.

Arno reported that he has contacted many of the third ward neighborhood associations and
that they have not been interested in the poll. He has received input that people do walk in
the streets because there aren’t sidewalks, where they are at risk from speeders, and that
even if people can walk or bike to Olive, biking and walking along/across Olive is difficult.
