SESSION 1753 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />APRIL 24,1999 <br /> <br />At a duly posted study session of the City Council of University City held in the Library <br />Board Room, 6701 Delmar Blvd., on Saturday, April 24, 1999, Mayor Joseph L. Adams <br />called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. In addition to the Mayor, the following <br />members of the Council were present: <br /> <br />Ms. Cassandra Colquirt <br />Mr. Wayne I. Munkel <br />Mr. Robert Wagner <br />Mr. Larry Lieberman <br />Mr. Paul E. Schoomer <br />Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr. <br /> <br />Also present was City Manager Frank Ollendorff, Assistant City Manager Gregory Rose <br />and City Clerk Leisha Meine. <br /> <br />AGENDA #1 - COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE: <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff gave Council a status update of the plan's progress. Council discussed <br />the general direction of the plan, especially economic development. Mr. Ollendorff <br />asked Council to start thinking where economic development should or should not be <br />targeted in the City. Lehman Walker, Director of Planning is working on a second draft <br />and is taking various videos of the City for Plan Commission. <br /> <br />AGENDA #2: - METROLINK: <br /> <br />Mr. Lieberman wanted to make certain that additional correspondence did not need to <br />be sent to other political dignitaries in hopes of further defining are wishes as far as the <br />construction of MetroLink was concerned. The sense of Council was that nothing else <br />could be gained, b'.¢ further correspondence. <br /> <br />AGENDA #3: - CITYSCAPE - POLITICAL ADVERTISEMENT/INSERTS: <br /> <br />Mr. Lieberman saio that he had received complaints about the recent political insert in <br />the CityScape by Mr. E.G. Shields, Jr. He believes that political advertisements are not <br />appropriate in the City newspaper. The sense of Council was that political <br />advertisements would be acceptable at a charge, as long as the advertisement was <br />inserted within the r~ody of the newspaper document. Inserts would not be allowed. <br /> <br /> <br />
