Meeting Notes– University City Bike and Walk Task Force <br />December 7, 2010 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br /> <br /> He clarified that the Steering Committee will consist of TF members and may include other <br />representatives, from regional and state agencies, St. Louis County Parks, Department of <br />Highways and Traffic, Missouri Department of Transportation, and Great Rivers Greenway, <br />etc.--basically, agencies with some say on street design. <br /> <br /> A copy of the grant will be sent out to members, as requested. <br /> <br />6) Planning public participation in Trailnet work <br /> <br /> Public workshops are scheduled for March 2011; can be rescheduled as necessary. <br /> <br /> The steering committee can use workshops to gather input for the community master plan, <br />share information on existing conditions, discuss program and practices, etc. <br /> <br /> Review the Bikeable Walkable Community Plan Update and email Kevin at <br />kevinneill@trailnet.org with questions and names of people (stakeholders who would share <br />their experience as a walker or biker in University City; who have an understanding of the <br />current challenges) to interview. <br /> <br /> Stakeholder interviews will be conducted by TrailNet and H3 Studio. A list of who will be <br />interviewed will need to be developed and sent to Kevin. About 12 or so interviews will be <br />conducted. <br /> <br /> The TF suggested various categories of stakeholders-- the Orthodox community, commuter <br />cyclists, recreation cyclist, students, dog walkers, bike shop owners, etc. <br /> <br /> Margaret Johnson wants to make sure that the community is not left in the dark while <br />developing the master plan. <br /> <br /> The TF members can be champions for the master plan and encourage people to play a role <br />in shaping the plan. <br /> <br /> The TF meetings may need to be adjusted for the rest of 2011 to work within the community <br />master plan project timeline. <br /> <br />7) Trolley <br /> <br /> The task force requested a representative from the Trolley Committee to attend the next Bike <br />and Walk meeting in February to provide information and answer questions from the task <br />force members on the trolley project. <br /> <br /> Steve Kraft will contact the Trolley Committee and make the request. <br /> <br />8) Task Force Subgroups <br /> <br /> The following subcommittees were developed: <br />1) Business Districts Issues – Beth Martin, Nick Frederiksen, Arno Perlow, David Shane <br />2) Recreation and Commuter Biking Issues - Linda Fried, Sarah Hanly, John Watson, Wilma <br />Kennell <br />3) Pedestrian Issues – Carol Wofsey, Beverly Jane Spudich, Karl Scheidt <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />22 <br />Page of <br /> <br />
