INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER <br />FLSA - Exempt <br />Grade 15 ($44,628 - $57,408) <br />NATURE OF WORK <br />This position is a mid-level management position responsible for the day-to-day operations of the <br />City information systems. This work involves technical and administrative work in supporting <br />the network, phone system, hardware maintenance and installation, software and application <br />installation and upgrades, back-ups, security, helpdesk and trouble shooting, training and end user <br />support, and documenting various items. This position also coordinates all external maintenance <br />and support contracts. This position reports to the Deputy City Manager. <br />EXAMPLES OF WORK <br />Manage data systems operations to achieve goals within available resources. <br />Assure the integrity and security of the City’s networked systems, including overseeing <br />back-ups, evaluating security, and maintaining the disaster recovery plan. <br />Maintain network equipment and applications with assistance from contractor. <br />Provide helpdesk support services to users, including hardware and software support. <br />Coordinate projects with department staff and provide supervisor project status reports. <br />Recommend budget requests to supervisor. <br />Review reports of computer and peripheral equipment production, malfunction, and <br />maintenance to ascertain costs and to plan operating changes with contractor. <br />Prepare specifications and solicit proposals for hardware and software. <br />Coordinate outsourced maintenance and support services to meet technology goals. <br />Keep alert to new software and hardware product developments through research and <br />other resources. <br />Recommend policy and procedure changes to supervisor. <br />Research and prepare reports supporting recommendations to supervisor. <br />Document data system, inventory of hardware and software, licensing and certificates, and <br />maintain paperwork as assigned. <br />Other related duties as required. <br />DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES <br />Working knowledge of modern office automation theory, principles and practices. <br />Working knowledge of hardware components, desktop applications and computers, phone <br />systems, and networked equipment and applications. <br />Working knowledge of Windows network equipment systems. <br />Ability to analyze network, desktop and user problems; ability to perform minor to <br />intermediate Windows server maintenance and support. <br />Ability to coordinate necessary work with outsourced services contract. <br />Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a time sensitive environment. <br />Ability to learn and apply new information quickly and effectively. <br />Ability to communicate orally and in writing, including to non-technical users. Ability to <br />document procedures, maintain files and perform administrative tasks as assigned. <br />Ability to and maintain effective relationships with co-workers, supervisors and external <br />contacts. <br /> <br />
