RESOLUTION <br /> <br /> The matter ot the University City Moses Head Diversity Education Fund was considered. <br /> <br /> After a reviex¢ and general discussion of the matter, Councilme.m, ber~;' <br />offered the followint. resolution and moved its adoption. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESCLVED: That the Council of the City of University City, Missouri, finds and <br />declares as follows: <br /> <br />Mos¢s Michael Head died February 22, 1999 at his home in University City, where <br />he,lix ed with is wife, Mary Head. He was 62. <br /> <br />Most s was the City's Assistant Director of Public Works from 1972 until his death. <br />Sinct~ 1982, Moses was the City's first Affirmative Action Officer, overseeing the <br />enforcement of laws prohibiting discrimination; designing and implementing <br />prog'ams promoting diversity; and counseling police and fire cadets through the <br />prog 'ams. <br /> <br />Mos .'s often spoke to other municipalities on building diversity in the workplace and <br />was :onsidered an authority on the subject. He helped advance the careers of many <br />dese :ving minorities and ~vomen. <br /> <br />Mos:s was active in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater St. Louis as a Big <br />Brolher since 1990. He had worked with his most recent little brother since 1993. <br />Frm ~ the late 1960's to the early 1970's, he worked with inner-city youths as director <br />offf e Project Outreach program. He was also a former assistant principal at Peabody <br />and Hodgen elementary schools in St. Louis. <br /> <br />Mo~' es possessed courage, compassion, quiet strength and humility. By his example, <br />he i riproved race relations and enriched our culturally diverse community. <br /> <br />To advance the City's belief in developing and educating current and future <br />emtdoyees on valuing diverse cultures and people, and to recognize Moses' <br />con:ributions to his fellow employees and the community, the "University City <br />Moies Head Diversity Education Fund" is hereby established. <br /> <br />7.
