P R O C L A M A T I O N WHEREAS, September 4, 1981 is a significant date, marking as it does the seventy-fifth anniversary of the incorporation of the City of University City, and WHEREAS, the City Council is desirous that this auspicious day is suit- ably commemorated and recognized in the metropolitan St. Louis area and throughout the State of Missouri, and WHEREAS, the Historical Society of University City is an organization of interested and energetic citizens dedicated toward the stimu- lation of pride in and knowledge of the antecedence and annals of our community, and WHEREAS, a varied program which would appeal to residents of all ages and ethnic groups, including special forms of observance within our schools, parades, performances and parties, is appropriate and suitable during the 1981 calendar year, and WHEREAS, the Historical Society of University City has graciously accept- ed the responsibility of serving as the coordinator in all proceed- ings scheduled for the diamond jubilee of the founding of our city, NOW THEREFORE BE IT KNOWN, that the City Council does hereby designate the Historical Society of University City as the official body to represent it in discussions with all associations, organizations, and groups participating in the anniversary celebration, and the Historical Society is charged with content of the calendar of events during the anniversary year, and FURTHER BE IT KNOWN, that the City Council does solicit and request the support and assistance of all those prepared and eager to make the seventy-fifth anniversary festivities of our city truly distinguished and memorable, befitting the illustrious name and reputation of our municipality.
