Session 1242, Minutes
April 14, 1980
Page 15
report on crows used next year when they return. Mr. 011endorff saidthe report
is being studied with a view toward implementing suggestions made in -the report.
Councilmember Sabol said he had seen an article in the paper which said that the
county fire districts were given a truck to service various fire departments with
fuel, and asked if University City was to be a part of that program. Mr. 011en-
dorff said that University City's name was inadvertently left out of the article
and that the city's fire department will be a part of.the program. Mr. 011endorff
said he would get a report to the Council on this ratter.
Councilmember Sabol said he was concerned about peoi.le jogging in the street. He
feels it is a dangerous practice, and wondered if anything could be done, short of
passing an ordinance prohibiting it,
Councilmember Sabol asked about progress on the cable television ordinance. Mr.
011endorff said the staff is assisting him in putting together the various require-
ments which will go into the ordinance, and information was being gathered from
people in the community, from other cities and from various publications. He
thought they would be able to sit down with. Continental Cablevision in two or three
weeks to see whether or not there is agreement on the terms. In five or six weeks,
there may be a final version for Council to approve or disapprove. He reiterated
that Continental knows that if there cannot be agreemer-t, there are several other
companies which the Council would find acceptable.
Councilmember Thompson said she had a number of questions on this matter, and Mr.
011endorff said he would be happy to meet with her and tray to answer her questions.
Councilmember Lieberman asked about the -status of the report which is to come from
the Citizens Revenue Study Committee. Mayor Mooney said the committee is now work-
ing on their final report, which should be forthcoming within the next few weeks,
and it will be sent to the Council for their perusal. Mayor Mooney asked the Coun-
cil to read it carefully, and said he would like to have their reactions to it.
The committee will come before the Council with its final report and recommenda-
tions within a few weeks, perhaps at the May 12 meeting.
RETURN TO DISCUSSION OF BOND ISSUE
Councilmemher Metcalfe said she wanted to confirm the conclusion which she felt
the Council had come to concerning resubmission of Proposition No. 3 of the bond
issue. All agreed that there was not time to resubmit the proposal at a June,
1980,.election. She thought perhaps Council should ask for bids this spring,
since it is imperative that the roof be replaced, and -make a decision at that
point as to how to pay for it. It is also hoped that the wording on the bond
proposi.tion,,if that is the method to.be used, will be clearer and as specific
as possible under state law governing bond. elections.
Ms Eileen Halasey, 7301 Cornell, said if Proposition No. 3 is resubmitted and is
worded more specifically, she will campaign for it.
AnJnnRNMENT.
On motion .made -.by Councilmember Sabol and seconded by.
