R E S O L U T I O N <br />WHEREAS, a regular election was held in the City of University City, Mis- <br />souri, on Tuesday, April 1, 1980, to elect a Councilman from the First, Second <br />and Third Wards for a four year term each, and <br />WHEREAS, said election was conducted according to the laws of the State <br />of Missouri, the City Charter and Ordinances of the City, and the rules and <br />regulations promulgated by the Board of Election Commissioners of St. Louis <br />County, and <br />WHEREAS, the following were candidates for the respective office as shown: <br />Patrick J. Kelley <br />Lois L. Klayman <br />Joseph L. Adams, Jr. <br />James J. Dorsey <br />A. Maynard Engebretson <br />Betty L. Thompson <br />Robert J. Kelly <br />Councilman - First Ward <br />Councilman - First Ward <br />Councilman - Second Ward <br />Councilman - Second Ward <br />Councilman - Third Ward <br />Councilman - Third Ward <br />Councilman - Third Ward <br />AND WHEREAS, separate ballots contained separate propositions, as follows: <br />PROPOSALS TO AMEND THE CITY CHARTER: <br />PROPOSITION NO. 1 <br />Shall the title of "Councilman" be changed to "Council - <br />member" wherever that term appears in the Charter? <br />PROPOSITION.NO. 2 <br />Shall Article II, Section 6, be amended by reducing the <br />residency requir.emeat-of_.counrilmen.from three to two <br />years? <br />PROPOSITION NO.. 3 <br />Shall.Article II-, .Section 7, be amended effective the <br />first. Tuesday..in_.April, 19$0., so as to change..the.-compen-. <br />.sation of councilmen from -Six -.Hundred Dollars ($600.00). <br />to Nine Hundred Dollars ($900.00).per year, and change <br />the compensation of the Mayor from Seven Hundred Fifty <br />Dollars .($750.00) ._to-dna-..Thousand_.Two-Hundred Dollars <br />($1,200.00) per year? <br />PROPOSITION -NO. 4 <br />Shall Article II, Section 10, be amended so that should <br />a vacancy occur in the Council, and said vacancy be filled <br />within sixty days by appointment by the City Council, said <br />appointment shall run until the next April election? <br />PROPOSITION NO. 5 <br />Shall Article V, Section 24, be amended to reduce the term <br />of the City Court Judge from four to two years? <br />PROPOSITION NO. 6 <br />In view of the jurisdiction of the St. Louis County Cir- <br />cuit Courts, shall Article V, Section 26, relating to <br />proceedings in the City Court, be repealed? <br />
