RES 060506 (b)

Resolution in Support of Truck Prohibition on Forest Park
Parkway

WHEREAS, the segment of Forest Park Parkway traversing University City has again
been opened to traffic after more than three years of closure due to construction, and

WHEREAS, University City has for many years maintained and enforced a city
ordinance prohibiting truck traffic on the Parkway, and,

WHEREAS, the University City segment of the Parkway is clearly proximate to
residential neighborhoods for its entire extent, and,

WHEREAS, prior to the construction closure, the St. Louis County Highway Department
agreed and cooperated with University City in prohibiting truck traffic, and,

WHEREAS, now the St. Louis County Highway Department has indicated that it will not
allow enforcement of truck prohibition on the Parkway,

NOW THEREFORE, let it be known that the City Council of University City, by this
Resolution, does vigorously protest the abrupt reversal of policy by the St. Louis County
Highway Department, and calls on the St. Louis County Council to pass an ordinance for
the enforcement of truck prohibition on the Forest Park Parkway.

Adopted this 5th day of June, 2006.

Attest:

\.,,1.11'1 '1"
" ,'_ "1/
~ '- \ '- '-....\ ,{ V I sJ.
