SESSION 1480 <br />MINUTES OF TUE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br />November 7, 1988 <br />At a regular meeting of the City Council of University City held in the Assem- <br />bly Room of City Hall on Monday, November 7, 1988, Mayor Janet Majervs presid- <br />ed and called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. In addition to the Mayor, the <br />following members of the Council were present: <br />Mr. <br />Byron R. <br />Price <br />Mr. <br />Joseph L. <br />Adams, Jr. <br />Mr. <br />Robert G. <br />Wagner <br />Mrs. <br />Mary V. <br />Schuman <br />Mr. <br />Paul E. Schoomer <br />Mrs. <br />Betty L. <br />Thompson <br />Also present was City Manager Frank 011endorff. <br />Mrs. Schuman noted there was an error on page 12 of the October 17, 1988 min- <br />utes. The vote on Bill No. 7888 should have shown that Councilmembers Schuman <br />and Schoomer voted Nay (instead of Councilmesnbers Wagner and Schuman). Mr. <br />Price moved approval of the October 17, 1988 minutes with that correction. <br />Mr. Adams seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. The minutes will be <br />corrected before distribution. <br />Mrs. Thompson moved that Mr. Johnny Moore, 8101 Milan, be appointed to the Mu- <br />nicipal Commission on Arts and Letters for an unexpired term ending January 2, <br />1991. Mr. Schoomer seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Adams moved the reappointment of Mr. Sidney Schneider, 9011 Old Bonhomme, <br />to the Board of Adjustment on an interim basis. Mr. Schoomer seconded the mo- <br />tion, which carried unanimously. <br />OATH OF OFFICE <br />Ms. Anne Barasch, 7449 Amherst, recently appointed to the Municipal Commission <br />on Arts and Letters, was given the oath of office by the City Clerk. <br />Mayor Majerus thanked Ms. Barasch, noting that the Council and City depend <br />heavily on citizen members of the boards and commission for advice and assist- <br />ance. <br />ANNCX7NCEMQI'rS <br />Mayor Majerus said that on Wednesday, November 9, the searchlight on top of <br />_ City Hall will be turned on in oration of a tragic occurrence 50 years <br />ago called Kristallnacht, or the Night of Broken Glass. This was the first <br />event leading to the Holocaust, and it must never be forgotten, she said. In <br />
