Mr. Lai stated the meeting would probably begin at 5:30 on either proposed date. He added that
he will check with other members of the Plan Commission who are not in attendance and
coordinate with City Council members.
Staff Update
Ms. Riganti stated that under Staff Update on the agenda a presentation on the Subdivision
process is listed. That will be postponed until a later date.
The Plan Commission members discussed some items approved over the last few years. There
was some concern regarding some of the decisions made. Two examples discussed included
Starbucks on Delmar and North and South and the Dewey’s Pizza parking lot at Delmar and
North and South. At Starbucks, there are problems with the ingress and egress. At the Dewey’s
Pizza parking lot, it has impacted the adjacent property owner to the south. They recently came
before the Board of Adjustment requesting a variance to construct a 13 foot tall fence.
Ms. Carr stated that when the Comprehensive Plan Update is underway, these issues need to be
addressed. She added that something seems wrong with the process since these two items,
Starbucks and Dewey’s parking lot, did not seem to work.
Mr. Halpert stated that he was on Traffic Commission when Starbucks went in. He recalled that
they discussed the matter and there were no good solutions to the problems there.
Ms. Carr stated that while we cannot fix existing problems, perhaps we can prevent them from
occurring.
Mr. Halpert concluded that not every decision made will make everyone happy.
Adjournment
There being no further business, a motion was made to adjourn. The motion carried and the
meeting adjourned at 9:00 pm.
tm;E
