<br />Meeting Minutes – University City Bike and Walkability Task Force <br />October 27, 2010 <br />Location:University City Centennial Commons – Meeting Room <br />Attendees: Michael O’Neal, Lynnette Hicks, Nancy MacCartney, Tom McCarthy, Mayor Shelley <br /> Welsch, John Hoal (H3 Studio), Mark Donohoe (H3 Studio), additional attendees on the sign <br /> in sheet. <br />Absent: <br />1. Mayor’s update <br />Goal to make U. City more walking and bike friendly. Would like to see sidewalks throughout <br />University City and a citizens group is a great way of moving in that direction. <br />Task Force is responsible for deciding on the meeting schedule, time and location for the <br />group. <br />An application was recently submitted to Trail Net to request grant funding to jump start the <br />citizen process of planning and designing a Bike and Walkability Master Plan. Mayor Welch <br />introduced H3 Studio, the company that has worked with the City of Ferguson. The City of <br />Ferguson and Rock Hill received Trail Net grant funds. <br />Task Force should report back to City Council by 2012. <br />2. Reports <br />Nancy MacCartney provided an update on the trails and bike paths/routes in University City. <br />The City was recently awarded $600K to design and construct additional trails and paths. <br />H3 representatives provided an update on the Trail Net grant. It is a MoDOT (Mo Department <br />of Transportation) grant administered through Trail Net. University City submitted an <br />application for the third and last available project. Funding was available for 3 projects. The <br />City of Ferguson and Rock Hill already received funding. The funds can be used for planning. <br />The task force will help in the master plan development process. <br />3. Discussion <br />How do utility companies feel about moving street lights or other utilities from trails and bike <br />paths/routes? Utility companies would need to be contacted. They would charge fees for <br />removal and relocate, as necessary. <br />Would like to see bike routes on Olive and Delmar. <br />4. Next Meeting <br />Michael O’Neal will send an email blast to everyone who signed in with dates and times to <br />select for the next meeting in November. <br />Update on the status of the Trail Net grant. <br />Presentation on Complete Streets <br />List of areas in University City without sidewalks <br />
