Session 1759 <br />June 7, 1999 <br /> <br />A bill was introduced by Mr. Munkel, entitled: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2.62 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE, <br />RELATING TO POLICE AND FIREFIGHTER'S RETIREMENT SYSTEM, BY <br />REPEALING SECTION 2.62.080, RELATING TO ELIGIBILITY FOR RETIREMENT BY <br />REASON OF AGE, AND SECTION 2.62.150, RELATING TO RETIREMENT <br />BENEFITS GENERALLY - SCHEDULE, AND ENACTING NEW SECTIONS TO BE <br />KNOWN AS "SECTION 2.62.080 ELIGIBILITY FOR RETIREMENT BY AGE" AND <br />"SECTION 2.62.150 RETIREMENT BENEFITS GENERALLY - SCHEDULE," <br />AMENDING SAID SECTIONS TO ESTABLISH THAT EMPLOYEES OF THE POLICE <br />AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS MAY RETIRE WITH BENEFITS AT AGE FIFTY (50) IF <br />THEY HAVE AT LEAST TWENTY (20) YEARS OF SERVICE, AND SO AS TO <br />CHANGE THE BENEFITS PAYABLE UPON THE DEATH OF CERTAIN EMPLOYEES <br />OF SAID DEPARTMENTS. <br /> <br />The bill was given its first reading and assigned number 8425. <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION: <br /> <br />Mayor Adams asked for a motion to go into Executive Session dealing with personnel <br />matters in room 6, 2nd floor of City Hall at 8:05 p.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner moved the executive session. Mr. Sharpe seconded the motion. The roll call <br />vote was as follows: AYES: Ms. Colquitt, Mr. Munkel, Mr. Wagner, Mr. Lieberman, Mr. <br />Sharpe, Mayor Adams. NAYS: none. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT: <br /> <br />Mayor Adams announced that Council will now go into the summer casual mode and <br />adjourned the regular session and announced that the next regular Council meeting is <br />scheduled for June 21, 1999 at 7:50 p.m. <br /> <br />Leisha K.
