Congratulations!
Every ambulance service in the State is required to be licensed. The license period is 5 years.
During that 5-year period, the State randomly performs unannounced audits to make sure your
service stays compliant with all State rules and regulations. According to their check, we were 100%
compliant. There were no negative remarks and no suggestions for improvement.

Human Resource Director Yolanda Williams achieved international recognition by receiving her
International Public Management Association for Human Resources, Certified Professional
accreditation (IPMA-CP) from the IPMA HR. The designation requires applicants meet the
professional standards set by the Public Human Resource Certification Council and demonstrate to a
panel of senior-level professionals their commitment to public sector HR. Ongoing training is an
important aspect of the technical experience and behavior competencies required to be an HR
professional.
Police Officer Daniel Becker, Officer Young and Officer Darren Wood received special recognition in
the University City Police Department’s “Outstanding Employee” newsletter. The Special
Operation’s Unit comprised of Sgt. Craig Kimbrough, Officer Shaun Margul and Officer Larry Becton
also received accommodations for their outstanding work. Thank you to the individuals in
attendance for helping celebrate. The Firefighters will continue to provide tours of the new facility to
interested individuals or groups as their schedule allows. The badly needed upgrades are welcome;
unfortunately, there is still much work to be completed. We have a lengthy punch list of outstanding
work to be completed. The Chief is taking the necessary steps to bid the remaining work.
Natatorium
The attached memo provides a recommendation to extend hours 17 days a year. This is
with the cooperation of the School District to allow use of the Natatorium on days the schools are not
in session. This does not include Sundays, which would be a substantial cost to the School District
and the City. Your upcoming consent agenda includes a recommendation from the Park Commission
to establish a Natatorium punch pass.
Upcoming Meetings and Events:
Saturday, Sept. 30:4:30 – 7:00 VUP Block party at the Balson Curve
Monday, Oct. 2:1:00 Walk of Fame Induction at Blueberry Hill
Wednesday, Oct. 4:7:30 UCityUnited Meeting at the Commons
Monday, Oct. 9:5:30 Study Session RE: City Clerk Job Desc.
6:30 Council Meeting
Saturday, Oct. 7:1-4 Tennis Block Party at the Heman Courts
Tuesday, Oct. 10:7:00 PM NE Neighborhood Ward 3 meeting at Heman
Thursday, Oct. 12:6:30 PM Northwest neighborhood Plan Development Meeting
Thursday, Oct. 19:6:30 PM NE Neighborhood Plan Update
Monday, Oct. 23:5:30 PM Study Session
6:30 PM Council Meeting
Tuesday, Oct. 24:6:30 PM Annual meeting of the Historical Society of University City
honoring E.G.
