Mayor Welsch noted that she would be appointing a subcommittee of the Council to get
together to do some research and to recommend to the full Council an evaluation
procedure for their two employees, the City Manager and the City Clerk. She asked that
if anyone would like to be considered for that appointment to let her know. Mayor
Welsch said there was a meeting of the Joint Task Force of the development around
Olive and I170 and is finishing up its work on the final report. This report will be
presented to a joint session of U City and Olivette Councils in September or early
October. The Mayor said she has been attending the meetings of the “pool cities” on
the sales tax distribution. She said this effort came about when Fenton and Chesterfield
pushed for a change in the way that sales tax is being distributed. Mayor Welsch said
the recommended change could have amounted to the loss of a couple million dollars
for University City specifically. She noted that the Movies in the Park would start August
31 at Fogerty Park. The first scheduled date was cancelled due to the heat. Finally, the
Mayor announced the UCity jazz festival is scheduled for September 24, in Heman Park
and she asked for people who would like to volunteer and to check out their web site at
ucityjazzfestival.org.

Mr. Glickert moved to adjourn the meeting at 9:15 p.m. and carried unanimously.

Joyce Pumm, MRCC
City Clerk
18
