<br /> <br /> <br />Below is the population count for each ward after the 2000 Census and the 2010 <br />Census: <br /> Ward 1 Ward 2 Ward 3 Total Polulation <br /> 2000 Census 12,467 12,551 12,410 37,428 <br /> 2010 Census 12,410 11,426 11,474 35,310 <br /> <br />The Community Development Department said they were present to provide data <br />but it would be Council’s decision of what would be done. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch passed out the suggestion of the Second Century Commission in <br />“Vision Seven” attached at end of minutes. <br /> <br />Mr. Price passed out folders containing two maps one showing the current ward <br />boundaries and one with his proposed ward boundary changes. <br /> <br />Then ending agreement with Mayor Welsch and Councilmembers Glickert, Kraft <br />and Price is as follows: <br /> <br /> Ward 3 would add Census blocks 5000, 5001 and 5002 of Census Tract <br />215700 that previously were in Ward 1. The approximate population total <br />of the three blocks is 228. <br /> <br /> Ward 2 would add Census blocks 6000, 6001, 6002, 6003 and 6004 of <br />Census Tract 215700 that previously were in Ward 1. The approximate <br />population total of the five blocks is 186. <br /> <br /> Ward 1 would subtract the approximate population total of 414. <br /> <br />The Council’s subcommittee will supply the remaining Councilmembers with <br />details of the decision. The Council will present a map to show the redistricting in <br />the agenda packet for September 12, 2011. A Public Hearing will be held at the <br />at Council’s Regular Council session on September 12, 2011. At the Council’s <br />Regular session on September 26, 2011 an ordinance on the redistricting will be <br />introduced to define the new Ward boundaries. At Council’s Regular session on <br />October 10, 2011, there would be the second and third readings of the bill. The <br />Community Development Department, after confirming the boundaries and <br />population estimates of the proposed wards, will provide the electronic version of <br />the redistricting ward lines to the City Clerk for distribution.
