How do people find out about events like fairs? Ms. Hicks – They are typically posted in <br />different places, newspaper, website, etc. <br />Ms. Hart – Two newspapers in the area are geared toward seniors; St. Louis Times and Prime <br />Light Circuit. <br />Ms. Hicks – St. Louis American recently highlighted University City Senior Center in “Aging <br />with Balance.” <br />We are currently trying to get a survey completed about seniors and their needs and how those <br />needs are being met. <br />Ms. Hicks – We can help in sending out the surveys, on routes, etc. It may be a good <br />opportunity for feedback. <br />Mary Hart provided information on her background and experience. She works with U City <br />Senior Resources Team. It is a group of professionals in different areas who provide services or <br />products for middle-age and older adults. MEAAA is represented at SRT. <br />SRT is a network of many groups. They meet every Thursday at Centennial Commons from 9 – <br />11 am. They have an email distribution list that provides general notices. In the St. Louis area <br />there are nine senior resource teams. Nothing is required to become a member. <br />Discussion about surveys <br />Two charges – Identify resources and identify needs. <br />Need to continue compiling information about assets and resources. The existing list seems to be <br />incomplete. <br />How can we facilitate all the information? <br />MEAAA has a good resource base. <br />What are the critical needs? A needs-based assessment is necessary. We should look for ways <br />to connect existing services and assets based on what the needs are. What is the gap in services <br />being delivered to youth and seniors and how do we fill those gaps? <br />We need to separate the mission and establish the priority of each mission. <br />Suggestion: Have a small group of people to ask seniors about needs.
