<br />GARAGE CONSTRUCTION <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />Garages: <br /> Permit requirements for <br />2 sets of drawings that include: <br />1. A site plan that shows the location of the <br />garage in relationship to the property lines. <br />2. Construction details <br /> The following information should be included on the construction details: <br />Footing depth (30” minimum required), thickness and width <br />?? <br />Foundation wall information (thickness, height, re-bar location) <br />?? <br />Slab construction (material, thickness of slab and slope of slab at 1/4” per <br />?? <br />foot to overhead door) <br />Provide a wall section that shows stud size, spacing, plate sizes, building <br />?? <br />paper, exterior finish and roof construction. <br />Special items for consideration <br />: <br />1. There can be no opening between the garage and a sleeping room. <br />2. If there is a door between the garage and the residence, the door must <br />be 1 3/8” solid wood or have a 20 minute rating (minimum). <br />3. If there is living space above the garage, the ceiling is required to have <br />an hour rating (5/8” type x drywall). <br />4. If any walls are shared by the residence and the garage, a minimum of <br />1/2” gypsum board is required on the garage side. <br /> <br /> <br />
