Session 1668, Minutes June 3, 1996 Page 9 353 R.S.MO. 1986 AND THE REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE PARKVIEW GARDENS RE- HABILITATION AREA; FINDING THAT REDEVELOPMENT IS NECESSARY AND IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST; AUTHORIZING A GRANT OF TAX ABATEMENT; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT THIS ORDINANCE. A bill was introduced by Councilmember Munkel, entitled: "AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE PARKVIEW GARDENS REHABILITATION II, L.P. FOR CERTAIN PROPERTY IN THE PARKVIEW GARDENS REHABILITATION AREA; FINDING SAID PLANS TO BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH CHAPTER 353 R.S.MO. 1986, AS AMENDED, AND THE REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE PARKVIEW GARDENS REHABILITATION AREA; FINDING THAT THE REDEVELOPMENT OF SUCH PROPERTY IS NECESSARY AND IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST UNDER CHAPTER 353 R.S.MO. 1986, AS AMENDED, AND IS IN THE INTERESTS OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY, MORALS AND GENERAL WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF UNIVER- SITY CITY; AUTHORIZING A GRANT OF TAX ABATEMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT THIS ORDINANCE; AND CONTAINING A SEVERAILITY CLAUSE." The bill was assigned No. 8275 and given its first reading. COUNCILMEMBER COMMENTS Mrs. Thompson said she was concerned about the condition of the Council for the Blind Thrift Shop on Olive Boulevard at North and South. The property looks messy and is not well kept up, she said. Mr. Munkel asked if there were ordinances that could be applied. Ms. Glickert returned to the microphone and suggested the City could begin with the sign, since it does not comply with the Sign Code. ADJOURNMF. NT Mayor Adams adjourned the meeting at 8:50, noting that Council will meet in Room 6 to conclude the earlier meeting that started at 7 p.m. this evening (notices were posted on May 31). Dolores A.
