<br />The low interest Commerce Bank account is checking account. <br />There are other accounts of $500,000 which yield higher interest and once the checking <br />account reaches a certain amount, monies are converted into a higher interest instrument. <br />The possibility of maintaining a lower amount in the checking account will be <br />investigated. <br /> <br />The City would like a draft budget by January and Councilman Kraft stated that this will <br />be prepared by staff. <br /> <br />The Budget Committee met and proposed the idea of an increase in fines. A motion was <br />made and approved to increase fines form ten to twenty cents a day and from five to ten <br />cents a day for juvenile items. This will begin on items borrowed after the first of the year <br />and signs will be posted to inform the public. <br /> <br />There was an incident involving potential fraud in the library. A company known as Go, <br />Inc., apparently was approaching people with offers to assist with their bills in return for <br />a money order payment. There were no official complaints. It was possible that the story <br />was going to be covered by a local television station. <br /> <br />Three laptops that were used for classes were stolen, as was an X-Box game station. The <br />X-Box was apparently inadvertently left unattended. Staff is considering the cost of <br />installing a keypad on the door. <br /> <br />A Red Cross blood drive is scheduled for December 27, 2011 and another will be held in <br />July 2012. <br /> <br />Libraries in Marshall and Poplar Bluff have joined Evergreen. The MLC will evaluate <br />and consider joining the consortium. There would be a decrease of costs from <br />approximately $16,000 to $11,000 per year. The current server has about 2 years left and <br />the decision to migrate may be made before the end of this time period. Currently there <br />are no grants from the state. <br /> <br />MPLD met and the following will be undertaken: (1) QR code review for marketing <br />library services (2) the Missouri library standards will be updated. This will be the first <br />revision to the library standards since 1993 (3) Training sessions will be offered for <br />library trustees (4) The Wolfner Library for the Blind is changing its name <br /> <br />Additional cooling tower bids should be available for the January meeting <br /> <br />The question of payment for changes to the library parking lot caused by the trolley <br />should be brought to the attention of the person preparing the budget for the trolley <br />construction. The trolley is due to be completed in the spring of 2013. <br /> <br />The budget for the purchase of games is approximately $2000 per year, which is in line <br />with the guidelines. The availability of games may attract children who would not <br />necessarily come to the library or who could not afford to purchase for home use. <br /> <br /> <br />Council Liaison <br />Councilman Kraft reported that the new fire station has been approved. Pursuant to the <br />federal grant, the fire station must be built within a certain time limit. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Committee Reports <br />The Budget Committee will meet following the regular board meeting in January. <br /> <br />
