To: Honorable Mayor Adams and City Council

From: Julie Feier, City Manager

Date: December 1, 2006

Subject: Weekly Update

storm response
The City began Thursday morning at 10:00 AM. All of our
facilities are up with the exception of the City garage on Pennsylvania. We have
generators backing up basic services at that site. All main arterials are clear,
Public Works and Forestry will continue to clear streets of limbs through the day.
We started the day with 5,000 outages and as of this afternoon, we have 5,958.
A warming center is up and running at Centennial Commons, (front desk number
505-8670)
is . St. Louis County and the Salvation Army will be assisting with
meals. Public Safety staff has contacted all of the residential facilities with
concentrated senior population to offer assistance with evacuation. No
evacuations have occurred thus far. Residents with broken tree limbs should
have them to the curb no later than December 10. There will be no callbacks, we
still have central and west leaf collection to complete. Leaf collection will likely be
pushed back one week. At this time staff is ramping up to stay on schedule.
Depending on debris volume, it may not be possible. Ameren has indicated (web
site http://www.ameren.com/Outage/ADC_RS_StormCenter.asp) it could be
three to four days before the electricity is back up. The weather forecast follows.
As in July, staff response has been excellent!

Snow Storm Limb Collection from ROW:

Forestry will move limbs/branches off roads to make roads passable - today with
their own forces. Forestry will return on Sat. to focus on branches/limbs blocking
row. Forestry/Parks/Public Works (Streets and Sanitation) will focus on
limbs/branches blocking row (over-time as needed) - Mon. 12/4 - Sat. 12/9

Snow-Storm Limb Collection from Residents:

Residents can leave limbs out on the curb for collection until Sunday 12/10. No
