umvers ty <br /> <br />6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, Missouri 63130, Phone: (314) 862-6767 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on April 2, 1996, the School District Of University City will submit two <br />propositions to the voters of University City, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Proposition 1 asks the voters to approve a rollback waiver of state sales taxes <br />mandated by Proposition C, which is equal to 42 cents of the current property tax rate, thereby <br />providing revenue of $1,260,000 to the School District for employees' salaries, instructional materials <br />and supplies, and payment of utilities and bills for other operational expenses, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Proposition 2 asks the voters to approve an increase in the tax levy of 42 cents <br />per $100 assessed valuation, which will give the School District an additional amount of $1,260,000 <br />for employees' salaries, instructional materials and supplies, and payment of utilities and bills for other <br />operational expenses, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of University City recognizes that the public school system is <br />a priceless asset, and that maintaining its state status as "fully accredited" through a fine teaching <br />stY, low pupil-teacher ratio, outstanding curriculum, and continued upgrading of the instructional <br />and administrative technology is of prime importance to the community's welfare, <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of University City <br />enthusiastically and wholeheartedly supports Propositions 1 and 2, and will urge every voter to <br /> <br />approve the propositions on April 2, 1996. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
