SESSION 1657 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF TI-tE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> January 8, 1996 <br /> <br />At a regular meeting of the City Council of University City held in the Council Chamber of City Hall <br />on Monday, January 8, 1996, Mayor Joseph L. Adams presided and called the meeting to order at <br />7:30 p.m. In addition to the Mayor, the following members of the Council were present: <br /> <br />Mr. George R. Cotton <br />Mr. Robert G. Wagner <br />Mrs. Mary V. Schuman <br />Mr. Paul E. Schoomer <br />Mrs. Betty L. Thompson <br /> <br />Also present was City Manager Frank Ollendorff. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />Mr. Cotton moved approval of the December 11, 1995, minutes as submitted. Mrs. Schuman <br />seconded the motion, which carded unanimously. <br /> <br />RESO!.UTIONS <br /> <br />Janet Majerus Park <br />Mayor Adams drew attention to a resolution which designates the recently developed park on <br />Partridge Janet Majerus Park in honor of the former mayor. The entire Council introduced the <br />resolution, which the City Clerk read. Mr. Schoomer moved adoption by acclamation. Mr. Wagner <br />seconded, and all voted Aye. The resolution is attached and made part of the permanent record. <br /> <br />Parkview Gardens Special Business District <br />Mayor Adams called attention to a second resolution that establishes a special business district in <br />Parkview Gardens Subdivision. Mr. Schoomer moved adoption. Mrs. Schuman seconded the <br />motion, which carried unanimously. The resolution will be part of the permanent record. <br /> <br />Mr. Mike Giger, 830 Vanderbilt, president of the Parkview Gardens Association, thanked Council <br />for its support of this neighborhood and the work being done to improve it. He said establishing this <br />permanent funding source will enable the neighborhood to make great strides. Mrs. Schuman said <br />Mr. Giger is owed a large debt of gratitude for his perseverence in this project and she encouraged <br />Council to continue its strong support when this matter goes before the voters April 2, 1996. Mr. <br />Cotton concurred, adding that the improvements already made have made a great difference in how <br />the neighborhood looks. <br /> <br /> <br />
