<br />Green Practices Commission <br />6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, Missouri 63130, Phone: (314) 862-6767, Fax: (314) 863-9146 <br />Approved 5-24-12(as revised) <br />Meeting Minutes –University City Green Practices Commission <br />April 12, 2012 <br />Location:University City Hall, Lower Level EOC Room <br />Attendees:Dianne Benjamin, Lynnette Hicks, Tim Michels (via phone), Jeffrey Mishkin, Neville Rapp, <br />Lois Sechrist <br />Absent:Jerry Breakstone,Lynn Ricci <br />1.Opening Round: <br />a.Tire recycling event May 19 at Pagedale City Hall. <br />b.First segment of Centennial bike trail is beginning construction. <br />c.Washington University Center for Renewable Energy –Neville attended their open house. Lois <br />could have the manager of the clean coal research group attend a future meeting. <br />d.Be sure to participate in Earth Day activities on April 22. <br />2.Administrative items: <br />a.The March 8, 2012minutes were approvedas amended. <br />b.Next meeting date: May 10, 6:30 pm –7:30 p.m., University City Hall, Lower Level EOC Room. <br />RSVP if you cannot attend so we can determine in advance if we will have a quorum. <br />c.NOTE: Meeting changed to May 24. Begin at 6:00 p.m., meet for two hours. No new or old <br />business. Focus entire time on goal setting work session. <br />3.Old Business: <br />a.Green Practices Brochure <br />i.Revised brochure was issued. Favorable comments, greatly improved. <br />ii.“Neighborhood” logo should be larger, does not read well. <br />iii.Approved to print a small batch –recycled paper, soy ink. <br />iv.Include “City Hall is a LEED certified building”under the City Hall buildingpicture. <br />b.New Member Packet <br />i.No changes. Approved to print on demand (as needed). <br />c.Energy Ordinance <br />i.Tim is comfortable with the Ordinance as written, which incorporates suggested changes. <br />ii.Ordinance will show that University City is trying to establish and recognizewhat <br />externalities costsociety. <br />iii.Buildings must pay back in 20 years, including valuing C02 produced at $20/ton. Building <br />is not approved for construction unless this is true. <br />iv.City staff recommends that the ordinance should not include that it does not apply to <br />private builders since right now it only applies to city buildings. <br />v.The Commission approved to proceed. <br /> <br />
