Someone <br />should call the Panera in the Loop to see if they will offer recycling. Someone official should call <br />the local Panera office to find out their position on recycling. <br />b.Neville attended the recent meeting about the Loop Trolley. The Trolley representatives discussed <br />the new light poles, but are not considering the use of high efficiency bulbs.The Commission <br />should send an official request to install high efficiencylamps. Lynnette mentioned that City staff <br />is reviewing the plans and will recommend higher efficiency bulbs for the project. <br />c.Neville mentioned that the River Des Peres Coalition would like to work with this Commission <br />and the Parks Commission to apply for a grant to remove invasivespecies in Heman Park along <br />the river. The Coalition will provide the labor for the local match. Lynnettementioned that the <br />City has supported prior projects of the Coalition by assisting in the removal, hauling and <br />processing of the plantings and weeds removed. <br />d.Jeff asked about the results of the Earth Day event. Lynnette mentioned that the event was well <br />attended. <br />e.Jeff wanted to confirm which month the Commission does not meet, a summer month or in <br />December? <br />f.MichaelGlickertmentioned that he was gladto be a part of the Commission and that the previous <br />report in 2010 was a great report. <br />g.Helen mentioned that she is very happy to be on the Commission. <br />h.Jerrymentioned that the bird habitat garden has been installed behind Centennial Commons. The <br />birds seem to be enjoying the area. An article is available on University City Patch. <br />i.Jerry mentioned that he is a member of the Mayor’s Bike and Walk Task Force and they met <br />recently to finalize the task force report to City Council. He thinks that the H3 masterplan and <br />design guidelines are first rate. There is overlap between the master plan and the goals of this <br />Commission. <br />j.Tim attended the recent Trolley public meeting and thinks thatwe neededto be pushing for it to be <br />part of a new infrastructure redevelopment called a Community Energy Systemdown Delmar. He <br />sent a letter to Mr. Walker to request a meetingto discuss his ideas and will be contacting the <br />Loop Business District and Trolley group to discuss the idea. The system could potentially reduce <br />the carbon foot print of the City,makingthe buildings more energy efficient, andincreasing the <br /> <br />
