A
presentation was made regarding the proposed modifications to greenway along Melville in
Parkview/Ames Place. The Boardheard information about the trees in that area. It recommended that
some of the trees be removed immediately (those on the west side) and that others be allowed to die out
naturally andthen be replaced (those on the east side).
Margaret reported onthe UniversityCity trolleyopenhouse meeting, which she attended. She has a
map of the proposedtrolley route. Shenoted that it will not go around the circle at Trinity but will head
east at the WUMusic Center, do a stub turn and themove on. The proposal also will take down theold
light standards on Delmar and replace them with new lights, to which the trolley wires will be attached.
3) DraftTask Force report
Margaret reported that she has a map fromJane Shafer showing unimproved streets and will
bring it to our next meeting.
The group then discussed the Land use/zoning section and the draft prepared by Jerry and John.During
the discussion we decided to take a broader perspective and request a complete audit of the planning
codes and zoning ordinances, perhaps suggesting something along the lines of the guidelines set out in
smartgrowth.com. Margaret will incorporate these changes in the next draft
BJ suggested asking Dan Burden to review the plan; we agreed to reference his work in the plan and to
try to meet him when he is in town at the end of June.
Sarah reported that she is still working on her sections of the report, and will forward thoseto Margaret
before May 28.
We agreed to finalize the report at our next meeting on June 5 and to then planthe presentation.
Margaretreported that Rich Wilson has agreed to make the presentation on the plan budget. Margaret
asked us to all review the amendments to the complete streets legislation when it is distributed.
There being no further time, the meeting adjourned at 8:00PM.
