The Monarch Fire District is considering this approach according to
newspaper accounts.

School Board and City Council Meetings:
The joint meeting schedule is posted and I have included it again as an
th
attachment. For the first lunch on January 17 I will have a meeting template for
the attendants to record a roster of who was in attendance, the time and location
of meeting and actions taken. The Sunshine Law only requires that actions taken
be recorded. However, for our future planning, I would like to see the themes that
arise out of their conversations be a part of the record. I will have the meeting
summaries transcribed and post them on our website. Because the meetings are
posted and there will be a record of the meetings, there is no limit to the number
of elected officials in attendance.

Winter Storm Warning:
The National Weather Service has just issued an Ice Storm Warning for the
metro area until Sunday night. Considerable ice is expected with wide spread
power outages. I have contacted Ameren to request their response to the
upcoming storm, which is included. The Fire Department has laundered all of the
blankets from the last storm and has requested cots from the Salvation Army, as
a precaution. We considered changing the billboards to reflect a potential shelter
location, but until after the storm strikes we cannot know where a station would
be if needed. Unfortunately, once a storm strikes we have to wait for the ice to
melt to access the boards. Our own debris collection from City Parks is not yet
complete as limbs continue to fall. Most of the limbs at the Heman lot have been
chipped and the lot is now closed for collection.

The Second Century Commission Public Forum was well attended on Tuesday
night. Seventy residents attended the forum. We look forward to continued input
at the January 16 and 21 forums.

Upcoming Meetings and Events:
Saturday, Jan. 13: Loop Ice Carnival
nd
Tuesday, Jan. 16: 7:00 PM 2 Century Commission Public Forum
(Barbara Jordan Elementary)
nd
Sunday, Jan. 21: 2:30 PM 2 Century Commission Public Forum
(Centennial Commons)
Monday, Jan. 22: 5:30 Study Session RE: Phone Tax Legislation
Monday, Jan. 22: 6:30 PM City Council Meeting
Monday, Jan. 29: 6:30 PM Retreat Goal Review
Wednesday, Jan. 31: 4:30 PM Deputy City Manager Reception in Rotunda
Monday, Feb. 5: 5:30 PM Work Session: City Auditor
Monday, Feb. 5: 6:30 PM City Council Meeting
