Apparently, a decision was supposed to have been
made, last November or December. To this day, a decision has not been made. There is a study group still studying the
proposal and they are supposed to come out with their report sometime this summer, possibly in August. Additionally, the
County Executive and the Mayor of the City of St. Louis are currently reviewing this, suggesting interesting changes and
proposing a possible ballot election dealing with raising more money. The Governor is planning on having a report prepared
by his Total Transportation Committee which may or may not be on the November ballot. Mayor Adams said at this point
it was impossible to know what was going to happen. Mayor Adams noted that several members of the audience wished to
speak on this subject.

Mr. Joe Edwards, 6309 McPherson, said that the North of the Park option was the best for University City. Several recent
reports on the expansion of MetroLink wrongfully characterize University City as being against the North of the Park route.
Mr. Edwards reported that he was the co-chair of the group called Neighbors for Metrolink, and as such, he wished to go
on record as saying that there were several key reasons why the northern Metrolink route is vital to the future and long
term prosperity of University City. He explained that this route would provide direct access for homes and businesses
throughout University City. He also said that most people work everyday and that, because of this fact, it was important to
connect the major employment centers, which this route would do. Mr. Edwards reported that Neighbors for MetroLink
had collected 5,000 signatures in support of this route. He said that with all the recent confusion over this issue, it was
imperative that University City voice its desire to have Metrolink in the community. He finished up by saying that he was a
resident and a business owner in University City, and as such, he thinks it is extremely important that Council express their
support of the North of the Park route and urge the East-West Gateway Coordinating Council to act quickly in making a final
decision on this matter.

Ed Finkelstein, 6379 Pershing Ave., said that he agrees with what Mr. Edwards said, but would like to mention one additional
point. He said that there seemed to be a lot of confusion in regards to University City not supporting the issue of MetroUnk
coming through University City. He believes it is absolutely vital to the future of the community. He thinks that the Council
