Traffic Commission 6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, Missouri 63130, Phone: (314) 862-6767, Fax: (314) 863-9146 CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY MINUTES OF THE TRAFFIC COMMISSION July 11, 2012 Commissioner Melcine Henderson called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m. The members present were:  Stefany Brot  Jackie Womack  Carol Wofsey  Angelica Gutierrez, Public Works Liaison  Sinan Alpaslan, P.E., City Engineer  Paulette Carr, Council Liaison  Shaun Margul, Police Department Representative Members not present:  Michael Gingrich, excused  Catherine Nichols, excused  Phyllis Blalock Others present:  Hazel Erby, resident at 8340 Fullerton Ave  Rebecca Schuham, 218 Linden Ave th  Dawn Price, resident at 1520 78 Street Commissioner Melcine Henderson introduced and welcomed Ms. Carol Wofsey as new member of the Traffic Commission. 1. Approval of Minutes June 13, 2012. Commissioner Brot made a motion to approve the minutes from the June 13, 2012 Traffic Commission meeting, seconded by Commissioner Womack and unanimously approved. 2. Request to install Stop Signs at the intersection of Alanson Drive and Golf Course Drive Commissioner Henderson presented the request from Jonathan B. Stern resident at 941 Alanson Drive, requesting replacement of the yield signs with stop signs on Golf Course at this intersection. Commissioner Henderson read the background information as follows: According to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices - MUTCD, the following factors are evaluated as part of the engineering study for Stop sign warrants:  Vehicular, bicycle, pedestrian traffic volumes: Golf Course and Alanson Drive are streets with low vehicular volume; however the pedestrian volume increases at some times of the week and day, especially Friday evenings and Saturdays in general due to the Jewish community that lives in this neighborhood.
