Board of Adjustment
February 15, 2012 Meeting Minutes
(approved 3/21/2012)

A Board of Adjustment meeting was held on February 15, 2012 in the EOC Room in the
basement of City Hall. The meeting commenced at 6:30 pm.

Members Present Members Absent
John Solodar, Chairperson Fannye Houston
Mike Krivonak Kathy Straatmann
Peggy Holly
Mary Johnson
Deborah Arbogast

Roger McFarland (attended but did not vote)

Staff Present
Ray Lai, Deputy Director of Planning, Zoning, and Economic Development
Zach Greatens, Planner

1. Approval of Minutes
The minutes from the January 18, 2012 Board of Adjustment meeting were approved.

2. Case # 12-00459 6951 Olive Boulevard
Melissa Reitzel with Image Brite, Inc., on behalf of Rent-A-Center, requested a variance to
install an additional 27 square foot primary wall sign, increasing the gross sign area to 124
square feet in lieu of 120 square feet allowed for the business in the commercial building on the
corner lot in the GC General Commercial District as required by Section 34-106.2.1 of the
Zoning Code. Mike Borst with Rent-A-Center attended on behalf of the applicant. The variance
was denied by a vote of 3 to 2 (3 opposed and 2 in favor). It was noted by the Board members
that based on the evidence presented, it appeared that changes could be made to the existing
signage, in particular to the monument sign that would allow for an additional wall sign to be
installed and still be in compliance with the provisions of the Zoning Code.

tm;
E
