Board of Adjustment
June 20, 2012 Meeting Minutes
(approved 8/15/2012)

A Board of Adjustment meeting was held on Wednesday June 20, 2012 in the EOC Room in the
basement of City Hall. The meeting commenced at 6:30 pm.

Members Present Members Absent
John Solodar, Chairperson Deborah Arbogast
Mary Johnson Fannye Houston
Mike Krivonak Kathy Straatmann
Peggy Holly
Roger McFarland

Staff Present
Ray Lai, Deputy Director of Economic and Community Development
Zach Greatens, Planner

1. Approval of Minutes
The minutes from the May 16, 2012 Board of Adjustment meeting were approved.

2. Case # 12-04266 7708 Delmar Boulevard
Hany Georgy with Spring Valley Group requested a variance to install an additional 25 square
foot primary sign on a proposed awning on the west side of the tenant space, bringing the gross
primary sign area to 50 square feet in lieu of 25 square feet allowed for this tenant space as
required by Section 34-106.2.1 of the Zoning Code for the tenant space in the LC Limited
Commercial District. The variance was approved by a vote of 5 to 0. The Board members noted
that the alley to the west of the tenant space is similar to a street in the way it is used and the
amount of traffic it gets and that the contour of the properties to the west blocks the view of the
business for those travelling east on Delmar.
tm;
E
