Update 2012 Annual Statewide Historic Preservation Conference Mr. Greatens stated that the dates have been set for the conference October 24 26. A majority of events will be held at the COCA. It had previously been mentioned that input is needed for awards. The HPC members were asked to continue thinking about possible awards for projects or for people who have been involved in historic preservation. Ms. Ghasedi stated that the Historical Society should be asked for input. Ms. Schmidt suggested that the Chinese restaurant on Olive (Weihong Restaurant) in the old theater could be uses for an opening or closing dinner. The members discussed the possibility of lighting the spotlight on City Hall. Ms. Schmidt mentioned the planning process for the Parkview Gardens Plan. She stated that is was a good planning effort and involved the re-envisioning of a Historic District moving forward. Mr. Lai stated that some of the buildings in the Historic District are proposed to be torn down and this may be something to consider because people might have mixed feelings about that. Ms. Schmidt stated that the process went well for the Plan. Mr. Greatens mentioned Jackson Park School. Ms. Ghasedi added that the HPC input helped in the final appearance of the addition. Ms. Schmidt stated that the input even carried over to the Flynn Park School addition. Ms. Schmidt suggested the Sutter Meyer Society. They have done a lot with limited money. Ms. Schmidt stated that a timeline for suggesting awards should probably be set. Mr. Lai suggested a timeline of one month. Ms. Ghasedi mentioned the rehab of a house on Princeton and that a movie was made about the rehab. Ms. Ghasedi asked about standards for previous awards. The meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm. 44 Page of
