Session 1698, Minutes <br />June 9, 1997 <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer moved approval of the May 12th budget study meeting minutes, as amended. Mr. <br />Munkel seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Lieberman moved approval of the May 14th budget study meeting minutes, as amended. Mr. <br />Munkel seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS: <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Wagner moved the appointment of Ms. Stephanie Brot, 8145 Cornell Court, to <br />CALOP (on behalf of Mayor Adams) for an unexpired term ending September 9, 1999. Mr. Schoomer <br />seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: SUPPORT OF THE GREEN CENTER: A NATURAL LABORATOR Y AND <br />CULTURAL GATHERING PLACE: <br /> <br />The City Clerk read a resolution in which the City Council fully endorses and supports the plans of the <br />Friends of the Green Center in their efforts to restore the Aubrey Green home and the western portion <br />of Kaufman Park on Blackberry Lane into The Green Center, a Natural Laboratory and Cultural <br />Gathering Place. The resolution states that the Friends of the Green Center have accepted the challenge <br />of raising all of the capital and ongoing operating costs. All citizens are encouraged to cooperate and <br />contribute to the success of this truly citizen created and citizen sponsored project. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer moved approval of the resolution. Mr. Lieberman seconded the motion. <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff reported that the Council had received communications from the Friends of the Green <br />Center. Mr. Ollendorff recommended Council's full endorsement to this project. Mr. Ollendorff noted <br />that the major work lies ahead in their efforts to raise several hundred thousand dollars. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Wagner said that he thought that this was a tremendous project and congratulated the <br />people who put it together. He feels that the Green Center will be a super addition to the community <br />and he looks forward to the day when it is in full operation. <br /> <br />The motion carried unanimously to approve the resolution to support the Green Center Project. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S AGENDA: <br /> <br />Agenda # 1: CONSENT CALENDAR (4 ITEMS) <br /> <br /># 1 - 1997-98 Annual Order for Tires: Bids for furnishing tires for the Central Garage requirements <br />have been received. Bids were sent to eleven companies with the following results: <br /> <br />Dobbs Tires <br />Purcell Tires <br />TriStar Tires <br />Froesel Tires <br />Cross Midwest Tire <br /> <br />$14,505.70 <br />$17,085.78 <br />$15,292.72 (One no bid item) <br />$15,789.16 (One no bid item) <br />$19,967.12 <br /> <br /> <br />
