6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, Missouri 63130, Phone: (314) 862-6767 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION ~0 ENdOrSE ~T.'I'NK EXPANSION <br /> <br />via the 1-170 Cross Oounty Light Rail Alignment Route <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the MetroLink Light Rail System, in its first two years of <br />operation, has transpo~ more than twenty million c~m~ters and achieved <br />great success and public support, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is anticipated that MetroT.'ir'lk will continue to expand its <br />system to meet future transportation demands, and <br /> <br /> ~tEREAS, residents o.f St. Imuis City and County currently supply a <br />proven highly skilled workforce for the central area south of Highway 1-70, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, cork~cruction via the 1-170 Cross County Corridor will provide <br />much ~ed direct access between north and south County, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the 1-170 Cross County Corridor would serve heavily traveled, <br />high volume commercial, residential, industrial, retail, and entertainment <br />areas in St. Jc~n, Bel Ridge, Overland, Olivette, University City, Clayton, <br />Richmond Heights, Brentwood, Maplewood and others, and provide access to <br />Iambert International Airport, <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University City Council supports <br />and encourages the East-West Gateway Coordinating Council, Missouri Highway <br />and ~rtation Depaztment, Bi-State Development Agency, and other <br />agencies considering the feasibility of expansion of MetroT,-irik within St. <br />Louis Oounty, to select the 1-170 Cross County Corridor Light Rail Transit <br />Alignment Route, and to utilize as much of 1-170 as possible as a segment of <br />any East-West corridor. <br /> <br />ADOPTED this 2nd day of October, 1995. <br /> <br />Dolores A.
