<br />The Green Practices Commission was <br />formed to help University City <br />residents, businesses, schools and <br />other community institutions reduce <br />their carbon footprints and increase <br />green practices. <br />Made up of an impressive list of <br />community leaders with backgrounds <br />in engineering, science, architecture <br />and sustainability, the Green Practices <br />Commission’s primary responsibilities <br />include: <br />Acting in an advisory capacity to <br />the University City Council in <br />regards to all development <br />projects and initiatives. <br />Establishing and prioritizing <br />sustainability goals and tracking <br />their progress. <br />Encouraging recycling, <br />composting and other sustainable <br />practices that help improve the <br />quality of life in University City, <br />protect and restore its natural <br />resources and strengthen its <br />economy. <br /> <br />Our vision for University City is to have a <br />fully-engaged community — including <br />city government, citizens, students, <br />business owners and patrons — that <br />integrates sustainability into every <br />decision made and every action taken. <br /> <br />www.ucitymo.org <br /> <br /> <br />In 2008, University City’s City Hall became <br />the first municipal building in the St. Louis <br />region to receive Leadership in Energy and <br />Environmental Design (LEED) certification <br />from the U.S. Green Building Council. <br />Green Practices Commission Meeting Schedule <br /> <br />Heman Park Community Center <br />975 Pennsylvania Avenue <br />University City, MO 63130 <br />2nd Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />University City <br />Green Practices Commission <br /> <br /> <br />Continuing the Legacy of <br />Sustainability & Green <br />Practices <br />University City <br />Green Practices Commission <br /> <br /> <br />Printed on recycled content paper using soy based ink
