SESSION 1650 <br /> <br />MINUTES OFTHEUNIVERSITYCITYOOUNCIL <br /> <br /> August28, 1995 <br /> <br />At a special meetingoftheCityOouncil of University Cityheld in Roc~6 of <br />City Hall on Monday, August 28, 1995, Mayor Janet Majerus called the meeting <br />to order at 5:35 p.m. In additiontotheMayor, the following members of the <br />Oouncilw~epresent: <br /> <br />Mr. Joseph L. Adams, Jr. <br />Mrs. Mary V. Schuman <br />Mr. Paul E. Schoomer <br /> <br />Co~nci~ George R. Cotton, Betty L. Thompson, and Robert G. <br /> <br />Also present were City Manager Frank Ollendorff and Deputy City Manager Kim- <br />berley T£~¥~ly. <br /> <br />The City Manager said the meeting was called in order to approve a bid for <br />Civic Plaza lighting. Bids were received as follows: <br /> <br /> Consolidated Sachs Gerstner <br />TGB. Inc. * Electric Electric Electric <br /> <br />Standard and Fixtures Custom Made <br />Spring City Parkwood Std. (Alt. 1) <br />Antique Street Lamps (Opt. 1) <br />Sternberg Vintage Lighting (Opt. 1) <br /> <br />*Woman owned <br /> <br />$ 80,313 $222,000 $110,940 $ 92,445 <br /> <br />$108,000 $108,000 $119,800 $130,284 <br />79,682 97,000 89,325 93,585 <br />59,366 No Bid 74,750 76,072 <br />37,472 No Bid 50,750 50,851 <br /> <br />The rec~,m~ndation was to contract with TGB, Inc. for $80,313 installation <br />and $79,682 for Spring City standards and fixtures for a total of $159,995. <br />Mr. Ollendorff said this is tb~ best combination of price, availability, and <br />mterial comparative to historic models that meets City specifications. He <br />said TGB has a good reputation and has work_red_ on other large scale lighting <br />projects. Also, the Historic Preservation CUmmtission has approved the pro- <br />ject design. The Antique and Sternberg posts are cast aluminum instead of <br />cast iron. The contract will not be executed until the City verifies all in- <br />formation on the posts and fixtures. The engineer's estimate was $183,000. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomermoved approval of tb~ recommended bid pending City verification <br />of information on the posts and fixtures. Mr. Adams seconded the motion, and <br />all voted Aye. Mr. Ollendorff saidhe would report back if there is a prob- <br />lemwiththeacceptedbid. <br /> <br />Dolores A.
