<br />Mr. Price asked about working with the State in connection with Olive Blvd. Ms. Riganti <br />stated that lately MoDOT has been more open to discussion with the City with on issues <br />such as putting medians down the corridor, installing monuments. These ideas were <br />previously off-limits. <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert asked what the City is doing relative to the sale of the Villages of Wyncrest <br />properties. <br /> <br />Mr. Lai stated the City would work with the buyer when it started the redevelopment of the <br />site. Ms. Riganti stated that the City has been working with the Canadian corporation that <br />owns the properties under Trusteeship and has expressed to them what the City’s preferred <br />uses for the site would be. <br /> <br />Ms. Carr asked if there were any active proposals to purchase the apartments right now. <br />Ms. Riganti stated that as of three weeks ago the property was still for sale. <br /> <br />Mr. Price stated that what was not known to potential developers was what the maximum <br />limit the Council would be willing to do. He thought that it would be good to know that. <br /> <br />Ms. Riganti noted that land in a redevelopment area entitles any prospective development <br />to apply to use any of the development tools in the City’s toolbox. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe asked about the condition of the Wyncrest Apartments now and if there were <br />any problems with the complex. <br /> <br />Ms. Riganti said the property is in good condition and meets the City’s code. <br /> <br />Mr. Price stated the Council needed to revisit the City’s use of redevelopment tools. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe asked for an example of properties not being used for best use. Mr. Lai said an <br />example would be a property where the building structure only represented a small portion <br />of the overall land such as the Seafood City site. <br /> <br />The components needed in economic development are: <br />1) Retention and Expansion <br /> <br /> The Department of Community Development is the liaison to business <br />organizations such as Special Business Districts and the Chamber of <br />Commerce <br /> <br /> University City has worked to improve the infrastructure through U City in <br />Bloom and the addition of bike racks, sidewalk improvements and resurfacing <br />of parking lots. <br /> <br /> Outreach is accomplished through the newsletter, the City <br />Lion Pages <br />newsletter, Olive Blvd Survey, site visits and the City website. <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Crow asked if the City rented space to the Chamber or used if they used City space? <br />Ms. Zacher said that they use a portion of the Trinity building for a Board meeting once a <br />month and most of the meetings are in the community. <br /> <br />2) Attraction <br /> <br /> Marketing <br />3 <br /> <br /> <br />
