6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, Missouri 63130, Phone: (314) 862-6767 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br /> ~F~S, the Army Aviation and Troop C~m~md (ATOC~) in St. Louis is the <br />region's second largest military installation and bas three thousand six hun- <br />dred (3,600) employees, and <br /> <br /> ~{EREAS, ATO2~ is under a serious threat of closing in the Base Realign- <br />merit and Closure O:,4,,{~ion process, for which the initial list of rec~- <br />ed closings will be announced on March 1st, and the final list will be given <br />to President Clinton on July 1st, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the loss of ATOC~ would hurt the entire St. Louis region, and <br />would have an adverse impact of two billion dollars per year on th~ region's <br />econc~y if tb~ Prioe Support Center in Granite city, Illinois, is closed <br />along with it, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, ATOC~ is an essential part of the modern United States Army, a <br />key to its victory in Desert Storm, and its success in several more recent <br />operations, and b~m assured that our soldiers are the best equipped in the <br />world, <br /> <br /> NC~, THERE~-~E, mR. IT RESOLVED by the city Council of University City, <br />Missouri, as follows: <br /> <br />The City Council on behalf of the residents of University City <br />urges the Base Realignment and Closure Cc~mission to recognize the <br />necessity of the St. Louis region's ~ and to ~ that it <br />~-~in open and operational. <br /> <br />A certified copy of this resolution will be sent to all members of <br />the United States Congress whose districts include any portion of <br />University city. <br /> <br />E~%TED this 20th day of March, 1995. <br /> <br />Dolores A.
