Mayor Welsch asked if there was still money set aside for the fire escape that was approved <br />several years previous. Finance Director Ms. Charumilind said there was money in the <br />reserves but not near enough. <br /> <br />Mr. Wilson asked that bike and walk trails be identified by a budget line item to allocate <br />money for their maintenance. <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert asked why there was a big jump in costs for street signs from this year to the <br />next year. Mr. Wilson stated he would like to be proactive and replace important signs <br />before they become too worn. <br /> <br />In conclusion Mr. Wilson stated that if the street budget was 1.2 million dollars it would take <br />twelve years to bring the City streets up to a good quality and the City could then do <br />preventive maintenance to keep them at the level of being in good shape. Sidewalks would <br />follow the same principal. Mr. Wilson said these were goals the City should be working <br />toward. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch asked if the City had the money, how long would it take to bring the streets <br />and sidewalks up to a good standard.
