Board of Adjustment
August 15, 2012 Meeting Minutes
(approved 11/20/2012)

A Board of Adjustment meeting was held on Wednesday August 15, 2012 in the EOC Room in
the basement of City Hall. The meeting commenced at 6:30 pm.

Members Present Members Absent
John Solodar, Chairperson Mary Johnson
Deborah Arbogast Fannye Houston
Mike Krivonak Roger McFarland
Peggy Holly
Kathy Straatmann

Staff Present
Ray Lai, Deputy Director of Economic and Community Development
Zach Greatens, Planner

1. Approval of Minutes
The minutes from the June 20, 2012 Board of Adjustment meeting were approved.

2. Case # 12-06659 7200 Greenway Avenue
Todd Therrien with The Therrien Group, Inc., on behalf of William Talbert and Kristin Tveit
(property owners), requested a variance to construct a porte-cochere (attached carport)
maintaining a side yard setback of 2.5 feet in lieu of 5 feet as required by Section 34-30.5.2.a(2)
of the Zoning Code for the residential lot in the SR Single Family Residential District. The
variance was denied by a vote of 5 to 0. The Board members noted that based on the evidence
presented it did not appear that the request arose from a condition that was unique to the
property; the existence of a hardship was not evident; and it appeared that it was possible to
construct a carport without the need to encroach into the side yard setback.

tm;
E
