Prepare design mixes, proportioned according to ACI 211.1 z
and ACI 301, for each type and strength of normal-weight concrete determined
ti
by either laboratory trial mixes or field experience. Use a qualified independent
testing agency for preparing and reporting pro osed mix designs for the trial 1
batch method. Do not use Owner's field quality-control testing agency as the
independent testing agency. Proportion mixes to provide concrete with the
following properties: l
1
Compressive Strength (28 Days): 4000 psi (27.6 MPa).
Maximum Water-Cementitious Materials Ratio: 0.50.
Slump Limit: 4 inches (100 mm). 1.
For Colored Concrete, use a lower water-content high performance mix design. ;
Submit mix design to Architect for approval. Uniformly disperse Synthetic Fiber
in concrete mix at manufacturer's recommended rate, but not less than 1.25
lb/cu. yd. (0.75 kg/cu. m). Add coloring agent to mix according to
manufacturer's application rate for the specified color or as adjusted by the
Architect.
7. Concrete Finishing. General: Wetting of concrete surfaces during
screeding, initial floating, or finishing operations is prohibited.
i
Light Exposed Aggregate Finish: Lightly expose sands of the pavement
surfaces per approved mock-up as follows: Immediately after floating, spray-
apply chemical surface retarder to pavement according to manufacturer's written
instructions. Without exposing the aggregate, remove excess mortar by lightly
brushing surface with a stiff, nylon bristle broom. The surface shall remain
smooth and consistent in texture creating a sandy textured surface. No
aggregate shall be exposed. 1
8 Sidewalks and pedestrian ways shall be handicapped accessible. Curb
ramps shall be provided at sidewalk intersections, designed in accordance
with the standards of the Public Works Department.
i
k
9. Where sidewalks do not presently exist along Olive Boulevard and
adjacent side street(s), sidewalks shall be provided. The sidewalks should
be aligned with existing sidewalks. Alignment shall be approved by the 1'
Director of Public Works.
1
10. Installation Expense, Maintenance and Operation The installation
of concrete sidewalks and right-of-way areas shall be at the expense of
the developer. The maintenance of these areas shall be the responsibility 1
of the property owner.
REVISED 1/23/06
