Session 1690, Minutes
March 24, 1997

A bill was introduced by Councilmember Thompson, entitled:

BILL NO. 8320 - AMENDING CHAPTER 21 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES AND
TRAFFIC, BY REPEALING SECTION 21-82 THEREOF, RELATING TO STOP INTERSECTIONS, AND ENACTING IN
LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 21-82. STOP INTERSECTIONS," BY AMENDING
SAID SECTION SO AS TO ESTABLISH STOP SIGNS AT THE INTERSECTION OF DARTMOUTH AND PURDUE
AVENUES AND TULANE AND PURDUE AVENUES; CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A
PENALTY.

The bill was given its first reading.

Mr. Lieberman noted that there were several stop signs that were not listed in the ordinance. Mr. Ollendorff said that the
City could not enforce traEc signs in public subdivisions. The legal opinion from the attorney was that the City could not
regulate the stop signs in the private subdivisions, unless the subdivision asked the City do so, at which point, the ordinance is
amended. The subdivisions pay for the signage.

F'XFCUTIVE SESSION

Mr. Wagner moved that the Council meet in executive session at 8:45 p.m. in Room 6 of City Hall to discuss personnel and
real estate matters. Nays: NONE,

ADJOURNMENT

Mayor Adams adjourned the meeting at 8:35p.m.

Leisha K. Meine, City Clerk
