SESSION 1687 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> FEBRUARY 10,1997 <br /> <br />At a regular meeting of the City Council of University City held in the <br />Council Chamber of City Hall on Monday, February 10, 1997, Mayor Joseph L. <br />Adams called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. In addition to the Mayor, the <br />following members of the Council were present: <br /> <br /> Mr. Hardy Ware <br /> Mr. Wayne I. Munkel <br /> Mr. Robert G. Wagner <br /> Mr. Lawrence Lieberman <br /> Mr. Paul E. Schoomer <br /> Mrs. Betty L. Thompson <br /> <br />Also present was City Manager Frank Ollendorff. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />Mr. Lieberman moved approval of the January 27, 1997 minutes with the <br />correction of the bottom of page two, changing "Mayor Adams seconded.." to <br />"Mr. Lieberman seconded..". Mr. Wagner seconded the approval with correction <br />and all voted aye. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner moved approval of the February 1, 1997 study session minutes as <br />submitted. Mr. Munkel seconded and all voted aye. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS/REAPPO INTMENT S <br /> <br />Mr. Ware moved the reappointments of Ms. Mary Carey, 7100 Kingsbury, and Ms. <br />Corene Brown, 7038 Melrose, to the Traffic Commission for terms expiring <br />January 21, 2000. Mrs. Thompson seconded the motion, which carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Lieberman moved the appointment of Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr., 7131 Willow <br />Tree, to the Library Board for an unexpired term ending June 30, 1997. Mr. <br />Schoomer seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Munkel wanted to state for the record, after reading the attorney's <br />opinion concerning Mr. Sharpe's appointment in lieu of his niece's employment <br />with the Library, his concern about the possibility of either one having to <br />step down if a legality surfaces due to this situation. <br /> <br />OATHS OF OFFICE <br /> <br />The following new or reappointed members of the City's boards or commissions <br />were given the oath of office by the City Clerk: Patricia Perryman and Marian <br />Flowers - Historic Preservation Commission and Caryn St. Clair - Parks <br />Commission. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams thanked the new and reappointed members, adding that service on <br />the boards and commissions is very important to the City and to the residents <br />as well. <br /> <br /> <br />
