A bill has been p~-e~ared for the <br />City Clerk's docket if Ccur~il wishes to act. ~le vacatic~ would leave tha <br />sidewalk about seven feet wide and a landscaped area six feet in width. <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus opened the public hearin~ at 7:40 p.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Bill C~i, ~b_iodini Associates Ard%itects, k-e~_nting Washington <br />University, d~played a graphic which showed how the finished pr~ect will <br />look, including the sidewalk that is elevatea_ next to the building in order <br />to provide access to the building and access for handicapped. <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus cu~Len~ that the work already dc~e has greatly in~3roved the <br />appearance of this site. <br /> <br />In response to Mrs. Schuman, Mr. C~mpbell said the pruposed vacation will <br />definitely meet the r-~ds of this pr~ect, noting he has reviewed all aspects <br />with both the Public Works Director, Planning Director, and City Manager. <br /> <br />There were no other c~LvLents, and the public hearing w-as closed at 7:45 p.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner said this plan was very attractive and he as~a that Council take <br />up the bill enact/rig the vacation wb~m tba City Cierk's docket is reached. <br /> <br />Tna City Manager said bids for supplyir~ appru~m~tely 30,000 tals of salt to <br />University City and 31 other c~unitiea as part of the cooperative salt pur- <br />dlase p~u~L~m were received as follows: <br /> <br />Gunther Salt <br />Morton Salt <br />Akzo Salt <br /> <br />$27.50/~n <br /> 20. <br /> 16.75/ton <br /> <br />Acceptance of Akzo's low bid of $16.75 per tc~ was rec~m~Ler~_~d. <br /> <br />Analysis of unloading and hauling costs are c~nbined to determine the lowest <br />aggregate bid for transporting salt frce a barge on the riverfront to <br />nity storage facilities. Mr. Ollendorff recommended accepting the lowest <br />combination bid which includes heulir~ by Gregsc~ Truck Co. fLu~ ~eelman Riv- <br />er Terminals. ~ree terminals and three hauling ecrUfactors submitted bids <br />Which are on file in the Pu~d~sing office. The ccmhin~a bid for University <br />City is $3.55/tc~, and the total ~ae!ivered would he $20.30/ton. Iast year's <br />cost was $19.20/t/~. <br /> <br />Mr. ~a~ms moved approval.
