Mr. Schonm~ sec- <br />onded the motion. Mrs. Sc~n said Sectis PM-304.16 ca1 page 13 prohibits <br />security bars, gillas or screens cn the first floor of residences (except <br />for those in place wban the ordinance was dlanged, which were ,.3z,suldfa~ <br />until there is a dlange in occupancy). She felt the City was not eraforcing <br />this pruklbiticn, and that many in the c~unity do not realize this type of <br />barrier is illegal. Also, this secti~l requires that bars be rel~able <br />inside without a key, and she asked why that is incl, w~a if bars are forbid- <br />den. Director of Planning A1 GOldman said the pruhibitic~ is cmly for new <br />installations or an occupancy change, but there are ex~-~t~ installations <br />that do not allow safe exit and M~.~t be z~moved. Mrs. Schuman felt this law <br />should r~ce~ive more publicity since it does not sccm tO be well-known, and <br /> <br />are very expensive. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmere- <br />None.
