N. NEW BUSINESS
RESOLUTIONS
1.
Resolution 2013 – 18 Fiscal Year 2013 – 2014 Budget Amendment #1

Mr. Sharpe moved to approve Resolution 2013-18 and was seconded by Ms.
Kraft.

CITIZEN COMMENTS:
Jeff Weintrop, 7832 Greensfelder Lane
Mr. Weintrop stated that he has been a resident and business owner in the Loop
for twenty-seven years and believed that he could speak for the networking that
the Loop provides. He stated that with Council’s support the Chamber believes
that they can get more boots on the ground and extend this same type of
networking throughout all of UCity. Mr. Weintrop stated that the members of this
Commission who donate their time and effort have done a lot in a year and a half
and he believed that Council’s continued support of the retail sales tax will really
make this a great Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Weintrop stated that any
Councilmember who votes to give Washington University another nine spots in a
very limited garage obviously did not own a business in the Loop. He stated that
parking is at a premium and if Washington University can figure out how to build
324 apartments, they ought to be able to figure out how to create nine new parking
spaces on their own property.

Pastor Rosemary Jackson, 6363 Olive Boulevard
Pastor Jackson stated that she is the Pastor of Family of Love Devine Church and
one of the founding members of the Partners in Christ Fellowship. She stated that
they are also members of the UCity Chamber of Commerce and would like to
speak on the positive effect that the Chamber has had in the community as it
pertained to the proposed projects that it is now requesting funding for. Pastor
Jackson stated that having attended many of the events sponsored by the
Chamber, she believed that this would be money well spent.

Rod Jennings, 1412 Purdue
Mr. Jennings stated that he was really disappointed with the lack of support by
UCity representatives and community members during the Make a Difference Day
which was held last Saturday. He stated that everyone who was not in attendance
missed an opportunity to serve, enjoy the fellowship and Make a Difference in our
community.

Mr. Jennings stated that there are several reasons why he believed Council should
not approve parking in front of UCity High School. First it is a gathering place for
students. Second, there is a study/nature classroom located in front of the high
school and third, it would create more congestion and increase accidents as
drivers fight for prime spaces.

Mr. Jennings stated that every major city has a viable Chamber of Commerce and
as a small business owner he has been pleased with the provision of information,
networking opportunities and the vision that the Chamber shared with the City
11
